Welcome to Matapu School
The Board of Trustees, staff, children and community welcome you to the Matapu School website. Matapu School is a decile 7, U3 school situated in the very beautiful South Taranaki district. We are extremely proud of our school and have very attractive facilities that remain open out of school hours for community use. Matapu School provides high quality teaching and learning programmes with an emphasis on literacy, numeracy and physical activity, which underpins all other activities. We develop children's skills in Information and Communication Technologies using an Inquiry Learning based approach. Through this the children acquire life skills to make them confident, connected, actively involved life long learners. A rigorous assessment schedule enables us to identify both gifted students and those who require help in certain areas, ensuring all students are working to their ability. Assessment is used by teachers and students as a reflective tool to show next steps to learning. We see the education of children as a three way partnership between home, school and the child. We value parent input and invite parents and caregivers to share in the development and progress of their child at school. Our school has a friendly, caring and family-oriented environment where all can feel free to learn, seize opportunities and make mistakes in a supported environment.
